Los Chamanes Cosmicos - Alejo and Nando.
Nathalie, Sarah, François, junior, and Sergio.
The Piglet Circus is a start-up based on longtime experience in the circus business and in acrobatics. After Sarah Schwarz and her now husband Sergio Nguyen had travelled the world with the traditional circus as well as with the “Cirque Nouveau” and beyond, and could look back on scores of performances in variety theatres, even Modern Dance Theatres, they decided to launch a circus company of their own. While the traditional circus is struggling to keep its animals and modern circuses already do without animals completely, the Piglet Circus perceives itself as a neo-traditional company intending to present domestic animals, whose training is based on their natural behavior.- In addition to domestic animals as well as to Sarah and Sergio, Francois Marietta, Natalie Dongmo, Junior Barbosa and the Argentinean band “Los Chamanes Cosmicos” are members of the “Pigletti” cast. – On November 1st, 2013 the premiere of the Piglet Circus took place in La Seyne-sur-Mer, France. Le Piglet Circus is supported by le Pôle Cirque Méditerranée (Théâtre Europe/La Seyne sur Mer – Creac/Marseille)

As a member of the German “Children’s Circus Giovanni”, created by her father – a pastor in Hannover – “Sarah and her siblings spent their vacations training in circus arts, and performing on tour with the circus” for 10 years1. Circus, in particular tightrope dancing quickly became Sarah’s true passion. After graduating from high school, Sarah enrolled in Annie Fratellini’s well renowned Ecole Nationale de Cirque, Paris (today’s Académie Fratellini) just to complete her skills as an acrobat and foremost as a tightrope dancer. After her professional education she started to tour the world. Engagements at the most important German variety theatres (e.g. GOP, Wintergarten, Pegasus, Apollo, Friedrichsbau) as well as in the circus world (Circus Roncalli, Germany; Cirque Bouglione, France; Cirque de Barbarie, France; Circo da Madruga, Brazil; Giffords Circus, England) were topped off by a 3 year contract as a resident member of the unique Big Apple Circus, New York. From 2006 to 2009 Sarah toured with the Big Apple Circus not only as a tightrope dancer but she also performed in a variety of other acts of which an acrobatic adagio along with 2 men attracted a great deal of attention. Above that she jumped at the chance to play trumpet with various circus bands. In addition the multitalented artist modeled for great labels like Versace, Louis Vuitton or Hermes and advanced as a teacher in demand. For 3 years she taught at the “Académie Fratellini” (Saint-Denis La Plaine) and at the “Ecole du Cirque d’Amiens” on a regular basis and gave lessons at the circus school in Charlons sur Marne. She not only instructed future tightrope acrobats, but also started to work as an animal trainer. For 3 years now she has been coaching Max the mini pig, as well as chickens, dogs and goats.
As another member of the “Piglettis”, who does not descend from a circus family, Sergio initially worked as a graphic designer for numerous TV companies until he was introduced to the circus by Gilles Audejean and Valerie Fratellini. He bid farewell to television and decided to join the circus. Being very practical he first acquired a truck driver’s license before starting his circus life with the Ô-Cirque. After 2 years with this company (1998 – 2000) he was hired by the “Cheval-Theatre”, an American horse show created by Gilles St. Croix. Back in France he worked for several companies: “Cirque Lili”, “Tout fou to fly”, “Ici ou la” and others as a mechanic and tent master. In 2003 he moved out into the world again, just to circle the globe twice as an assistant tent master with the celebrated “Cirque du Soleil” from Canada. In 2007 he joined the equally famous “Big Apple Circus”, USA as a tent master. After this, he became technical director of the “Académie Fratellini” in Saint-Denis La Plaine. Here he was more and more fascinated by the art of cycling. At the age of 45 he decided to learn more about it in his limited spare time, and became a highly skilled trick cyclist. In 2013 he resigned from the “Académie Fratellini” just to use his accumulated experience for a circus company of his own. Thus he and Sarah created their own Piglet Circus..
Like Sarah, Francois does not descend from an acrobat’s dynasty, but was raised in a middle-class family in the Normandy, France. Already as a youngster he was very fond of sports. He practiced gymnastics, and frequently attended competitions. At the age of 10 he started to participate in circus workshops and gained his first experiences in vaulting, at the trapeze and on the tightrope. Moreover he appeared on the stage of an amateur theatre until graduation. After graduation from high school (with focus on “theatre”) at the age of 17 he was exposed to the real smell of the circus world for the very first time and started his education as a tightrope acrobat with Sarah Schwarz at the “Moulin de Pierre”. He accompanied Sarah on her Middle England tour with the very popular Giffords Circus, where he not only continued his education, but also worked as a roustabout, particularly with the tent crew. – Back in France he spent a whole year at the “Académie Fratellini” and gained his first professional experience in different productions of this circus school. In the years 2012 and 2013 he went back to England and joined the Giffords Circus, where he was celebrated for his top act on the tightrope. Francois is devoted to classical dance and likes to play the trombone.
"Love” and “delicate food” as the main theme is providing the common background for a sequence of short stories, inspired by the particular sense of humor of an American TV-show, featuring a lot of strange human like and non-human characters. On the menu you will find acrobatic acts on the ground and high above, magic and fun and all kinds of trained small animals – seasoned with hot sauce of live music served by “Los Chamanes Cosmicos” under the lead of Alejo Marassi. From time to time the “Chamanes” will be accompanied by Sarah (trumpet), Sergio (trombone), Francois (trombone), Nathalie (tenor saxophone, clarinet) as well as by Junior on drums. In August 2013 the “Piglettis” began to develop the show and to write the music. The first version was presented to the public on November 1st 2013 at the Pôle National des Arts du Cirque Méditerranée, La Seyne-sur-Mer, France. After completion of the final version the Piglet Circus will start a south-to-north - tour through market towns in France, commencing in March 2014. A stopover at the “Cirque Electrique” in Paris (http://www.cirque-electrique.com/) in summer 2014 has been arranged already.
